A Short Biography

Residing in sunny Tucson, Arizona, Jacob Chinn is a professional photographer specializing in location work. Jacob graduated from Northern Arizona University in 2001 with two degrees, one in Photography and one in Chemistry, winning an award for "Best Photographer" in his graduating class.

Jacob's passion for photography started at an early age. His family frequently vacationed in Yosimite Valley, where Jacob's father would take him to Ansel Adams' gallery. Inspired by Ansel, he began documenting the Sierra Nevada's on his annual hikes, focusing mainly on landscape photography. When he was seventeen Jacob received his first real camera from his grandma, a Nikon FM2, and began to shoot the things he loves, backpacking, fly-fishing, mountain biking, and the great outdoors.

In college, he broadened his interest in photography. Extending his pasion from landscapes to portraiture and the integration of the two. Jacob also learned the intricacies of studio, commercial and editorial photography, that he now uses daily.

Jacob spent one year on scholarship at NAU as the athletic department's staff photographer. After graduating he moved to Tucson and worked for the University of Arizona's Athletic Department as their senior photographer. After four years Jacob decided to go out on his own. Jacob now focuses on wedding and editorial photography.
